Event Info
48 of the best kayak anglers in the world will be heading to Amal in Sweden to contest the 9th Hobie Fishing World Championship. It will be the third appearance of the championship on the European continent as we return to the fan favourite Amal venue. All the action will take place on Lake Vanern with anglers targeting pike and perch over the three days of the world championship competition.

What is supplied – Provisional
The information on the event kayak model has yet to be released however each competitor will fish from an identically rigged Hobie kayak. The boats will be rigged with a Lowrance HOOK REVEAL 7 TRIPLESHOT fish finder which will allow an angler to navigate their surroundings, locate fish, find structure, determine water temperature, and much more.

Hobie has hosted sailing world championships since the first Hobie 16 titles in Hawaii in 1976. These championships have always been fantastically competitive, and ruthless events on the water, but they have also been great social occasions.
Fishing On Lake Vanern
The location is superb for fishing which was confirmed by one of the region’s best local guides, Andy van Assema, who gave us a little insight into pike and perch fishing in and around the championship arena.
