John Hostalka is the definition of a multi-species angler. He is consumed by chasing everything that swims. From from fresh to salty species: from pristine grass flats along the NC coast to south Florida invasives and offshore drag burners, John can be found up and down eastern seaboard. He’s been drawn towards water since he was first born. He grew up in, on and around the ponds, creeks, rivers and reservoirs of upstate South Carolina. Since then he’s come to call the unique waterways of the Chesapeake Bay region his home. He fishes, camps and practically lives out of his Hobie kayak and has done so for the last 10 years. He’s been a member of the Hobie Fishing team since 2016. His most recent adventure was a 14 day self-supported kayak camping and fishing tour spanning the length of the entire Chesapeake bay (275 miles) aboard his Hobie Outback.
