Matthew Brannon

With 21 years of Active Duty service in the US Coast Guard I have had the opportunity to fish all across the U.S., the Caribbean, as well as the Central and South American coasts.

Although I have fished bass tournaments for the past 35 years I have been competing in kayak tournaments since 2010 exclusively from Hobie kayaks.

Living on the West coast, in Northern California, makes fishing the National trails difficult due to the amount of travel required. However, I have qualified for two Hobie B.O.S. Tournament of Champion events by placing 3rd at Lake Guntersville in 2018, and by winning the Mississippi River event in Lacrosse, Wisconsin in 2021.

I have recently returned from the Bass Master Kayak Series event at Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas where I finished in 6th place out of 129 anglers catching the second largest bag of the event on day two at 106”.

Locally, I compete in the Yak-A-Bass tournament trail in California. This is the largest kayak club on the West coast and is a club that I cofounded in 2015.

I have also recently committed to fishing the Wild West Bass Kayak Pro Tour for 2023. This is a higher entry fee, invite only series that will have televised media coverage of each event.
