January 14, 2022 Hobie Fishing Worlds 9 – Amal Sweden Update

Good morning Hobie Fishing Worlds 9 anglers!

Many thanks for returning your expression of interest request to attend the 9th Hobie Fishing Worlds in Amal Sweden.

We have matters in hand with the hotels, the host and the supply of boats and equipment from Hobie. Right now, we are in a paused position until the end of February before we send out further event details.

As with all international Hobie World Championships Hobie manage we are closely monitoring any changes to international travel or travel restrictions which would prevent us from running this event (again). We are also reviewing the effects from Omicron as it makes its way around the world and for this event, Europe.

First and foremost, from Hobie is the safety and wellbeing to all anglers and event support staff. Secondly, is ensuring we run a truly international event which requires anglers from all parts of the globe to attend. Most recently some international competitors now face stringent quarantine requirements when they return home. For an example and from the information I have, Chinese anglers face a 25-day quarantine upon return which makes this a non-event for the Chinese Angling Team. Other regions like Australia, it’s still a very mixed message upon return.

I will increase the frequency of the communication as we get closer to the end of February, and we thank you for your understanding.

Stay safe and tight lines.
